CHURCH BELIEFS

God who is the supreme leader and guardian of The Light of the World Bible Church of God has revealed His will to us to serve as a guide to all His called out people in the world to have and to hold these BELIEFS as guides hence:

1.   We believe in God Almighty creator of heaven and earth and all that are in them. Gen. 1:1 – 31; 2:1 -9, John 1:1-2, Heb. 1:10; 11:3; Isaiah, Psalm 33: 6-7.

2.   We believe in Jesus Christ that He is God and creator of  all things John 1:1 -3; 14; 17: 5, 24: Eph. 1:4; Matt. 1:16.

3.   We believe incarnation of Jesus Christ – John 1:14.

4.   We believe He was conceived of the Holy Ghost Luke 1: 35; Matt. 1:20; 14:33.

5.   We believe He is the Son of God – Matt. 14:33; Roms. 1: 3-4; Is. 9:6 – 7; Gal. 4:4; Isaiah 7:14.

6.   We believe that Jesus was born of virgin Mary. Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:31; 34-35; Matt 1:20.

7.   We believe that Jesus died on the cross – He was crucified Matt. 26:2, 35, 54, Mark 15: 24 – 25; 37; Matt. 17: 23; Luke 23:44 – 46 Psalm 31:5; John 19:30.

8.   We believe that He was buried and the third day He rose from death. He lived and showed Himself to His disciples and others. Mark 15: 45 – 47; Matt. 27:58 – 61; Luke 23: 52 – 53; John 19 :38 – 42; Mark 14:8; Mark 16:6; Hos.6:2; Matt. 28 :6; Luke 24:6, 9:22; Matt. 16:21 His disciples and other people saw Him alive again.

9.   We believe that when He rose from the dead He was superhuman but not a spirit. John 20: 19-20; 1Cor. 15: 5-8; Luke 24: 4-34; 39 – 43; Mark 16: 9 – 14; Matt. 28:16 – 17.

10.                We believe He ascended into heaven. If Jesus ascended, all true believers in Him shall all ascend to heaven on the last day. Mark 16: 19; Luke 24:50 – 52; Acts 1:9, 10 – 11.

11.                We believe in Holy Ghost as the divine personality of God. He is the comforter, teacher and director of God’s ministries on earth. He is the invisible entity in Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16; John 1:33; Acts 1:5, 8; 2:4, 33; Matt. 1:18 – 20. This Holy Ghost is viz avis known and called Holy Spirit or the Spirit of the Lord. This spirit of God is widely spoken of in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Num. 11: 25 – 27; 24:2; I Samuel 10:10 – 11; 19: 20; 2Chron. 15: 1; Joel 2:28 – 29; I Cor. 12: 13; Gal. 3: 28; Acts 2:16 – 18; Luke 12:12; John 7: 39; Acts 5: 32; 9:17; 8:15 – 19.

12.                We believe that Holy Spirit is in charge of divine healing and all miracles which result from the use of the name of Jesus Christ by the believers. Acts 5:5 – 11; 29 – 32; 3:1 – 9; 11: 15 – 24.

13.                We believe in the communion of the Holy  universal or Catholic church of God. All the congregations of God remain one if they hold to the truth which God has revealed through Jesus Christ. The word of God is to serve as a standard to all units of believers. Luke 6: 20 – 26; Matt. 16: 13 – 20; Joel 1: 14, 15: 2:15.

14.                We believe in the togetherness of all the saints. To agree and practice what ever they do that tally with the doctrine of Jesus Christ as contained in the Holy scriptures. Phil. 4:9.

15.                We believe in eternal judgment of Jesus. He ascended into heaven from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. Rev. 20: 11- 12; 2Cor. 5: 10; John 15: 6; Matt. 24: 48 – 51; Luke 12: 41 – 46; Rev. 19: 20.

16.                We believe that Heavens and hell are real. God shall in the last days cast whosoever is not found in the book of life into hell which is the second death. Rev. 20:15; Matt 25:41 and Rev. 20: 13; Matt. 8: 11; Eph. 2:1, 5 – 6.

17.                We believe that there is SIN. That every man living in adamic life has sinned. Rom. 3: 23; Gal. 2:22.

DEFINITION

Sin is defined:

a.   Transgression of law- john 3:4; Romans 4: 15

b.   Unrighteousness 1John 5:17

c.   Evil works or deed Gen. 4:4, 8; 1 John 3:12

d.   Omission of known duty/work assisgnments etc James 4:17

e.   Nor from faith – Rom. 14: 23

f.    Thought of foolishness – Prov. 24:9.

What the Bible says about foolishness of people is described as –those who misuse wisdom.

i.             Those described as clamorous woman or person – Prov. 9: 13.

ii.            Builders on the sand, vain hope and promises. Matt. 7: 26.

iii.          Five virgins – people of short sightedness or visions. Gal. 3: 1, 3; 2:14, 5:9; Heb. 9: 10; 7: 16.

iv.          Gentiles – Titus 3:3.

18.                We believe in the confession of sins. Psalm 51:3 – 6; Josh. 7: 19 – 21; Num. 22:34; Isa. 15:24; 30; 26; 31; 2Sam. 12: 13; 24:10 Jer. 3: 25, Ezra 9: 6; Rom. 3: 23; Gal. 3:22; Rom. 11:32; 1 John 1:9 – 10; Isaiah 1: 18 – 19; Matt. 3:6.

19.                We believe that sins hinder prayers and when they are confessed, the prayers will be answered. 1 John 1:9. As many as are under the lusts of the flesh alienate themselves from pleasures of God. That the hostilities  of the flesh are stated in the scriptures as enemies of God. Some of these work of the flesh are stated in Gal. 5: 19 – 21; Eph. 5: 3. Col. 3:5 – 7. Some people believe only faith’s positive confession and that Christ has died for all other dead works. They may have willfully or unwillingly engaged themselves. But the  acts underscore the preaching of John the Baptist and the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in our own opinion. If there must be repentance; there must be recognition of the acts from, where you are to repent. It is only godly on knowing your wrongs to change from them and be remorseful for having been caught in them. This leads to the commission of John the Baptist that the converts should bring fruits meet for repentance. Matt. 3:8. This also leads to our believe in PENANCE in form of fasting or by fasting in order to mortify the flesh. Jonah 3: 6-8

20.                We believe in Baptism. There are two Baptism:

a.   Water baptism by immersion

b.   Holy Spirit baptism – Receiving and being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Although the Holy Spirit is not visible like water the Baptist immersion the believers, the Holy Spirit covers the whole beings of the receiver. Their heat or hot temperature of the body is felt all over the body. (Fire Baptism). Baptism is one of the Bible doctrine that had been handled by different organization in different ways/methods. Some believed it should be sprinkling of water on the convert. Others say it should be done by immersingly in any pool of water that is deep enough to take kneel level. That whether it be a pool or pond or lake it does not matter. Hence in some denominations the use Baptistry in the vestry of the church. As for  THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD BIBLE CHURCH OF GOD INTERNATIONAL, we believe in the Bible teachings and as done in the  time of John the Baptist and by Jesus Christ Himself. He baptized the converts in River Jordan as John the Baptist did. We believe in baptizing in flowing water and not lake or pond or baptistery. Matt. 3: 4-7; 3: 6, 16; John 3: 23; John 3: 3-6, 22 – 23; 4: 1-2, if John and our Lord did not use lake or baptistery hence our decision as a Bible Believing Church to use flowing river or brooks/streams is not wrong.
